My daughter is on a commuter train line into Boston from an adorable New England town just north of the RI line.

While I loved my campus/school, the surrounding area wasn’t all the interesting. I envy what my daughter gets.

Sounds ideal to me as well. What school is it?

Evanston is fine, but it is a lot like being in Bethesda.

Princeton is a terrible college town. Source: grew up there, sibling attended.

+1

It’s cute and nice to have somewhere to walk around off campus. But many the restaurants are expensive, there aren’t many bars or college kid hangouts, and so many of the shops are geared towards older adults.

Ann Arbor is my personal favorite. So many more options!

First job out of college was in Princeton. It seemed pretty ideal to me. (Back then the stores were not all just like mall stores).

Chapel Hill, Durham. Big enough schools to have something to do. Pretty enough to enjoy the seasons. Close enough to major cities for a day/weekend trip. Southern charm.

We love Davidson, NC and Claremont, CA. Both are so charming and accessible.

Does anyone actually think AA is in the same league as Madison?

For sure, Chapel Hill.

Is Chapel Hill welcoming to an out-of-stater? (If they could manage to get in?)

I was an Asian-American kid from the west coast who had never been to the south. I had the best time in Chapel Hill.
