It's Trump who should get life in prison. At his age, it won't amount to anything over a few months. If he even gets to sentencing.
Did you listen to the judge's justifications? She was unrepentant and believed that she was right. She refused to admit that she did anything wrong and the judge said that he believed that if she had it to do all over again, she would do it again. She violated a court order that barred her from visiting her former office. She went to the office after the court order with a video crew and tried to intimidate former coworkers to resist assisting the DA's office and the court and to refuse to testify. So, she not only tried to fraudulently change the election results, but she also tried to use bullying and intimidation to prevent her own prosecution. And she believes that she is above the law and that she does not deserve to be punished. The judge also pointed out that not only did she commit an illegal act that requires punishment, but she also cast doubt on the integrity of the election system, something that is critical for the running of the government. Her actions called into question if our elections were trustworthy and whether our public servants that are elected could be trusted. She endangered every other member of the clerk's office by her actions because there are people out there that are threatening county clerks because they believe the clerks are dishonest. She completely undermined the position to which she was elected and endangered her fellow coworkers.
Sorry, but I feel she is lucky to have only received 9 years. She deserves more.
