If a child is crying as much as the child in this story obviously was, and the child was too young to talk, any responsible childcare worker would look over the child's body to find out if they were injured. How could they have missed the burns on this poor child's hands? This story made me furious!! The parents have every right to sue the center.

How the staff could ignore the crying in these cases is shocking to me. My son would be screaming a whole different type of scream than his normal upsetness. It is always clear when he's been hurt -- e.g. a fall that actually results in a bruise vs. a normal little one. I would be concerned not so much that the incident happened, but that the staff didn't notice that the child was hurt.

This happened to a child at the Securities and exchange commission center from walking on the playground surface. He had second degree burns on his feet and the center sent him home as if nothing was wrong.

Outside playtime was right before pick up. So something like 15 mins before parents got there..

I found the story horrifying not so much that such a freak accident could occur but that this child had BURNS and so must have been screaming/crying for hours and somehow none of the workers noticed the burns. Was no one holding/looking at this poor baby while he was inconsolable? And if he was so inconsolable why were the parents not immediately called even if they somehow missed seeing he had blisters all over his hands???

The reason I send my child to daycare is that it is supposed to be safer than a nanny or home daycare setting. That's why this is so disconcerting. I know accidents can happen anywhere but the fact that it happened twice is the issue.
