The lead dust was airborne, there were no subsequent airborne tests after the school was closed because the one from 2021 already showed a ton. This is vastly different than the lead paint in our houses and only a chip of lead paint the size of a quarter can be enough to make 3000 square feet infected. Only surface testing was done and it was found everywhere. The short amount of time the school was closed did not allow for proper cleaning as bulletin boards and wall art were left in tact. The most concerning part is the nurses office is one of the prime places for dust and it still has no windows.


I would also point out the health department recommended a recheck 3 weeks later and it’s about time for the recheck.

Really? I grew up in Old Town with three siblings in a 160 year old house and none of us have ever been tested. And we are currently raising two kids in a100 year old Del Ray house and nary a pediatrcian/NP has ever advised us to test.

FWIW, I got my kid tested this morning at the pediatrician and the lab tech said they’ve tested a lot of kids this week and every test so far has come back normal. Every parent I’ve talked to who has had test results back has said the same.
