I far prefer the dip. I tend to pick at my cuticles if I don't have my nails done, which looks terrible and can be painful. The dip looks professional and lasts a long time. I keep them short and get neutral colors with an almond shape. I think they look polished and they make me happy. Going every 2-3 weeks is kind of a pain in the butt but it forces me to do something for myself so that is nice I guess.
Anonymous wrote:My problem with the gel and dip is I'm inept at getting it off on my own (despite many many attempts), and I hate being dependent on going back into the nail salon to remove it. I also fall into the camp of being suspicious of the chemicals and fumes if you get these sorts of manicures frequently enough.

I'd like to get them done more often, but I'm not very feminine or in tune to beauty standards, and I worry it's...trashy? Sorry to use an overused word on DCUM, but I don't know how else to put it. Could use advice.

NP, but can you explain what “dry style manicure with gel” means?
