Kids are in college and I have one bin per kid, that I will give to them some day, not any time soon. Kept things like the first time my kids drew a "person," their family, a card from a preschool teacher who wrote about special things she saw in my child, report cards and programs from things they were involved in and awards. Baby shower cards? Those were for me, not my unborn child! No need to keep.

I figured my kids will enjoy going through it one day but probably not keep much if it. That's ok

You have to go with your gut. I have NOTHING like this from my childhood because my mom DGAF and I wish so much that I did. Other people whose parents saved it consider it junk. Your kids won’t care now but they might as adults.

Keep the items you love the most and as long as you have room keep it.

When my mom died we were cleaning out her house and we came across boxes of stuff like this and my siblings and I loved looking through it. Most of it we didn’t keep but it nice to have moments of joy and laughter during what was really an awful task emotionally.

I wish my mother had saved less stuff so I wouldn't have to feel guilty throwing it away now. But, cards from when I was born, from people lie my parent's coworkers 50 years ago? Those mean nothing to me. The baptismal candle that was never lit on the date of my baptism? Kindergarten report cards? My Red Cross swim test certificate? That all could have been tossed decades ago.
