I recently asked at my dermatologist's office for my DD (light skin and dark hair like her father), and they told me she had to be at least 18 for laser treatments.

16:51 and before you jump on me for saying I don’t have the money for my kid and I had all of that done, I had the laser before I had kids!

I wouldn’t, only because it’s a lot of money to spend and I don’t have that kind of money to spend on cosmetics for my teens.

But I’m a super hairy Italian and I offered to my daughter to have her upper lip done. She said no for now.

I’ve had my full face, underarms and area below and around my belly button done. The belly button area was the only thing that stayed permanent 15+ years later. My underarms are lighter but I went from never needing to shave to needing to once per week to every 2-3 days. My chin and sideburn areas grew back.

I had electrolysis as a teen on my upper lip and between my eyebrows. That was permanent.

Is it hormonal with age, the laser didn’t work the same or both? I don’t know.

Shave every other day? That tells me she is NOT hairy.

I’ll take my daughter when she’s 16. It’s been a life changer for me. I do think maintaining it with a session every few years is the norm. Still worth it though.

If you don't have dark hair on your pale skin, it won't work for you.

I’m the PP you’re asking that question to….if I shaved in the morning previously, I would have stubble by that evening. But because my hair is so thick/dark and I get and grown a, it hurt to shave again unless I waited a couple days. Even with the best razors, Creams, etc. I tried it all. It was a source of frustration and embarrassment with how prickly my legs looked and felt. Once a week is a godsend for me.

Cost and time. As with most parents of teens and other kids, after school time is insanely busy with sports and extracurriculars. Carving out time for a med spa appt every 4 weeks x 5-7 times, is a huge PIA. It’s expensive too, but less costly than monthly waxing over years.

But I still think the results are worth it and I’d pay for my daughter to have it done, exception would be a Brazilian. I would not content or pay for that. Teen yrs are too young to make a permanent decision on that.

That is true. The age probably is very dependent on the girl and where she is in puberty, which is why they probably have a blanket policy of 21. All women are well through puberty by then. Some places don’t have the policy and would be happy to take your money now and again a couple yrs down the road if it isn’t effective.

I would not pay for a monthly waxing nor drive and sit there every month for that appt for years... Have her do laser and get it over with.

We called one place and were told you had to be over 21 because hormonal changes as a teen would impact it from being effective?

I'm middle eastern. Laser was life changing for me. Haven't shaved in 16 years! I wish this was available when I was a teen. Do it for her if you can!
