I'd use it to buy a timeless coat, bag and shoes. Should last 5+ years with proper maintenance


I would hope a “timeless” coat costing $5k+ lasts more than 5 years


I would allocate the 10k like this
- coat - 5k
- bag - 3.5k
- shoes 1 - 750
- shoes 2 - 750

2 pairs of shoes because you can't wear the same pair of shoes every day


That is insane- I am in my early 50s and I make 7figures and I would never spend $5k on a coat or over 1K on a bag. Ridiculous

Is the question for work clothes only? Lots of people seem to be interpreting it for all Flores including work clothes. I probably spend a couple thousand dollars a year on work clothes, but obviously that isn’t starting from scratch. It is replacing and upgrading a few things each year.

If I were starting from scratch, I’m sure I could easily spend the whole 10k in a few months. But then I would expect to be good to go for several years (obviously some repair/replacement likely).

I wear a suit or suit-like dress every day. Some variety is nice, as is mixing in current pieces.

It’s been just about 5 yrs since Covid. I spent about $2k this summer on new clothes. Last time I really went shopping for myself was pre covid. I purchased small replacement items at target over the last 5 yrs like a package or socks or 2-3 new bras or a new t shirt.

So 10k would last me 25 yrs so let’s say 20 yrs to account for the little random purchases.

Nice is different for different people and it depends on whether you WFH sometimes. Maybe 2-4 years and I do WFM a few days a week.
