DP and Mac grad. I just googled and it was 17% the year I started. I wonder if by “less international” he means the international students are more homogeneous? When I was there in the 90s the students came from all over - Senegal, South Africa, Latvia, Egypt, Taiwan … it was also very international in the sense that basically everyone studied abroad and it was very well supported to do so.

I think the distinction is basically meaningless as Grinnell, Iowa and Oberlin, Ohio are both small towns, and so equally distinct from Mac in that regard, but fyi this is factually incorrect. Grinnell is larger than Oberlin by a couple thousand people (and if memory serves has a slightly bigger downtown?).

Both are great choices. Mac is in fantastic city and attracts more people who want to be involved in the world while they are in college. Grinnell is in a very small town (smaller than Oberlin, for example) and more inwardly focused.

My husband went to Mac. He says it's not as international as it used to be. His entire group of friends are all very successful in all different fields.

We visited both and they felt very different. City versus rural has a lot of implications from travel to social scene. The students also seemed different. I’d see where DC felt they fit in better.

Anyway, Grinnell's ranking has slipped to 19 and is almost near to Mac now.

This really seems to be very personal. Why would you crowd source this?
