In our experience, it eases up the higher level of completion (MLSNext, ECNL, etc.).

On our team, there are def parents that yell at their kid. But no snark about other kids and quite a few parents watch from afar. In fact, the parents of the handful of players who start and play all or most of the game tend to keep to themselves and watch from afar.

Not PP, and not a shouter, but I understand (I think) what PP I’d trying to say. If you’re a fan, it’s normal to be involved and rooting, groaning, calling for a card etc. Right on that accord.

BUT

These are kids, and shouldn’t be harassed or verbally assaulted by parents or anyone. Parents lose their damn minds at kids sports.

And as another PP said, it absolutely gets worse the lower down the pyramid you go. The kids are there to have fun, but the parents…”care.” It’s embarrassing for them.

It really is insane to me. The first time I saw a parent kicked out of a game for their behavior I was just flabbergasted. The kids were 10! She screamed the whole way out and the dad was in another dad's face who was trying to help calm the situation. It scared me to think how they treat their children.

Oh I agree. Part of me hopes DS hates it and we don't have to do it next year. What's sad is how you can see it impact some of the kids. Some of the kids are pretty mean as well and I only assume they are learning that from their equally mean parents. I've found a couple moms who are similar to me, but I definitely feel a little ostracized from the clique and hope it doesn't negatively impact DS.

This is the first year DS has played for a real competitive team and it's been a real struggle for me. DH seems to fit in with the other dads fine. NO, IT IS NOT.

I pay a ton of money for horseback riding. Equestrian parents NEVER yell at any of their kids' events.

One of my kids is a preprofessional orchestra player. We have spent 100K on her instrument alone, plus lessons and competitions, etc. Music parents NEVER tell their kids to hurt others right before international competitions.
