WTF. No don't do this. A 13 year old is perfectly capable of spending a few hours alone in a hotel room. Bringing a friend is insane and makes absolutely no sense. You'd have to get a second room because no one wants to share a hotel room with a friend's parents-that's just creepy.

I would let my 9 year old stay in the hotel room with a phone to check in every so often.

I can’t imagine a 13 year old not being able to handle being alone in a hotel for a few hours.

Totally let her hang at the hotel! I would think you'd be find to both go to the wedding as well. Just check in with DD in between.

Can you absolutely trust her not to latch the door, and not to open the door to anyone (this means food arrives before you get back), and to call immediately if anyone does come to the door?

She either goes to grandmas or hangs out in the hotel if you are going to be away overnight

No need for either of you to miss the wedding or the reception. She is 13! She can hang out on Facetime with her friends. More than old enough to be alone without an adult by her side.

OP, option 2 is totally fine. Leave her with her phone and food and she will be more than fine in a hotel room.

Definitely hotel. But you do need to make sure she uses the security latch once you're gone and put the DND tag out (but obviously not if she's going to fall asleep before you get back). My DCs stay behind in rooms and that's our rule to prevent housekeeping or anyone else from getting in.
