Principals and they get a cut of what you pay.

They earn it!

They get commission?

Yes

The schools get a % of the earnings and set the prices.

Schools? Or the Principal?

Ok, JCP can be done anytime by visiting their studio. What's different about these "senior" ones done at the school by apparently different companies at each HS?

JPPenny is now lifetouch. Poses an outdoor maybe and cap and gown but bring your own. Otherwise not much.

Somehow when my kid graduated from college we paid $7 for 1 5x7 (all we wanted) and got free shipping. Maybe MCPS can figure out something more affordable for families.

$340 for four poses?
Isn't one pose enough?
And is it that much if you have one pose and get multiple copies, e.g. 10 copies? Grandma wants one, one for house, maybe one for student but no need for more than that probably.

There are two separate parts. The cost to take the picture. It is free for one picture wearing a drape for the yearbook and then the cost of actually getting copies. That obviously varies on size and number of copies. It is hard not to end up with a package as individual copies are the most expensive per shot.
