U of A isn’t a commuter school. I appreciate how laid back kids are who attend. They are smart but not balls of stress since getting into college in Arizona isn’t stressful and it seems like most kids in state go to one of the state schools and it’s a respected choice.

Unlike MD and VA Arizona doesn't have a dozen mid- to lower-tier public colleges in addition to the big state schools.
They have ASU. And Northern in Flagstaff.

It's a decent campus but getting there and back is definitely a pain since there are no direct flights. The travel time plus the time change making it harder to communicate with his friends on the east coast turned him off. Housing is an issue. It's HOT. Not just nice weather hot, but HOT.
