Top SAT scores. Women in engineering get the most. Computer science unlikely to get any.

Is "top" relative (i.e., determined by major)?

They’ve been giving less merit every year, so I don’t know what it is like this year. Most students are admitted to Dietrich, so they are technically undeclared even if they’ve indicated a preference.

In previous years, they didn’t start evaluating for merit until October.

There are students admitted to their honors college who don’t receive merit. You can certainly hope for it, but i wouldn’t expect it.

Same question about honors...are there GPA/score thresholds for the honors college?

No defined thresholds. Honors essay is really important. Honors students are generally going to contribute significantly to the university through both extracurriculars and research. My observations as a parent is that these students are very intellectual, rather than just being good at test prep.

The different schools have somewhat different SAT and GPA ranges, but I’d assume you’d need well over 75% to get something. My kid was at the 75% for SAT and grades (1480/4.5) and got nothing.

Got accepted but no mention of any scholarship

They don’t send them at the same time. Typically a merit offer might show up a few weeks after the acceptance.

Congratulations to all who have gotten acceptance already. That’s such a good feeling and it takes a LOT of pressure off this process. No matter what else happens this year, your kid has been accepted to a good school!
