The Senate has to approve DC judges, and adult felonies are prosecuted by a US Attorney we don't get to pick. There are absolutely things DC could do better. But those are some major limitations that states don't have.
This is a laughable excuse. The prosecutor DC residents voted for won’t aggressively prosecute juvenile crime.
The YRA, slack prosecution of “juvenile” offenders and the attendant high levels of crime is exactly what DC voters want, because it’s the implementation of policies supported by people that DC voters have voted for.
