They looked terrible the previous match too. Only won because Germany thought they had it in the bag and stopped playing. It really is super low level, uninspired soccer.

Well to be fair to our girls, they were not playing like their families lives depended on it. They did. It have that type of motivation.

You mean better than US pros…….8 of the US U20s are playing for NWSL teams. What does that say about our system?

We'd like to think it means these players are special, but in reality, each major club gets a few spots, so it really just means these are the coach's picks for that team. Coaches often use them strategically to keep parents happy and not want to leave the club. Clubs use them as marketing material. Follow the names for a few years and most of these U14 talent id players will not be going to US camps (earned spots) in a couple of years.

Especially as they get older - the national teams start to balk at these kids recommended by coaches and start to look at top teams

U20's got worked by Korea last night.

Camps and expenses are paid for by the national team

They are 100% based on club coach recommendations. At this age there are simply too many kids for the scouts to actually see. The scouts make contact with the coached and they get recommendations. It will continue this way until college when the club favoritism no longer counts.

DCUM doesn't allow links to TS, but are you talking about the one from a few years back involving DD and the alleged NTC conflict of interest?

Anonymous wrote:The invites to the U14 Girls U.S. Soccer Talent ID Center that just went out to local club players:

What are these based on? Club coach recommendations based on last season performance?
Have the players already been ID's by US Soccer or is this the beginning of the process?
How about other good players who are not on the list?

Would appreciate some insight to help understand the process since there is zero transparency. Thank you!

There’s no transparency because this is US Scouts. They don’t need to be transparency. It could be from number of things and not just one. If you kids make it great, if not, it doesn’t mean they aren’t good players. This isnt everything. Relax. Tell your kids to keep grinding and let it be.

There have been U.S. scouts at my DD’s local ECNL club games watching the U14s. I do think the invite is by coach recommendation but there are scouts around here too. Saw one watching a U14 ECNL game two weekends ago.
