This is not true.

It's actually far more common than you think. Many children were abused by various religious leaders at different religious organizations. Their insidious behaviors affected those children for the rest of their lives. Please don't discount the lived experiences of abused children at the hands of your religious leaders.

It is genetics. I know a family with 5 children and 3 are gay and 1 is bisexual. They are in their 30s-40s now, so not a phase.

I do believe there's a genetic component.

In my family on my father's side, the eldest child is almost always queer if there is more than one offspring.

My fraternal grandpa had an older sister. She was the classic cliched spinster who was a big tomboy her entire life, never married but lived with her spinster best friend for 35+ years. She never came out, but having met her and spent a few summers with her and her BFF Agnes, she was a lesbian. I once snooped in Agnes' room and found that the closet and dresser drawers were all empty. Pretty clear it was a decoy room for show.

My fraternal grandpa & my grandma had 5 surviving kids.
-Eldest son: rumored to be gay, but never came out and died in his 20s in a farming accident.
-My dad + mom: Me (lesbian), 2 younger brothers
-My dad's brother + his wife: male cousin (gay), boy/girl twins, girl (non-binary)
-My dad's sister + her husband: female cousin (lesbian), female cousin
-My dad's sister + her husband: only child male heterosexual cousin
-My dad's brother + his wife: male cousin (gay and died by suicide b/c of this), 2 younger sisters, 2 younger brothers

My eldest DD (23) doesn't like labels and considers herself fluid. She's mostly dated men but has also dated a few women. She's also most recently dated someone who was trans. My other 3 kids are straight as far as we know.

The eldest being queer has continued with my cousins who have kids as well. Three cousins have lesbian/gay eldest kids and one cousin has a trans child.

I have several LGBTQ friends who have queer siblings as well.

I won't speculate as to your own children as I am not their doctor and do not know them, but some studies do say there is a genetic link. It sometimes runs in families. Though the odds of three offspring exhibiting a trait that is present in around 2% of the human population overall, is exceedingly unlikely, even with the genetic component.

DH and I actually think his mother may have been gay. She loved their father but there’s some things that make him believe she may have been having an affair with her female friend when they were growing up.

Maybe but it wouldn’t last very long. Nobody is going to live their adult life based on a trend.

I believe there’s genetics involved in almost everything. There are no family members in the most recent generations who are gay. And believe me no one would have a problem with it. We are not religious. But with about 10% of the population you would think there would be a couple of gay family members. But maybe we don’t have the genetics.

Left handedness is genetic and my family is about 40% left handed which is a large amount.

Mental illness is one of the last unknown medical fields but it appears to be genetic. Autism is in that group. These illnesses run in my family and they haven’t made much progress at all in treatment or proper diagnosis.

There’s a book about a family with about 11 kids more or less and six of the boys were diagnosed with severe schizophrenia. That’s unheard of too.
