Plus especially in the US people are sucky. Just so not nice.

Funny, I am not from the US and I think Americans are SO nice: they smile to you, are helpful, chatty.

Same PP as above. I’ll also say my son enters ANY hotel room and says, ”Beautiful room!!”

I wonder how much the quality of a person’s daily life affects how they feel about flying and other aspects of travel. I work in the federal government and often feel like cattle, am lied to, delayed and left waiting. These features of flying have never even entered my consciousness. I don’t know why I’ve never thought about it in this way before. DH has a similar job and when we fly we just look around wondering why everyone is whining so much. I used to date a guy with an awesome job in finance that gave him a lot of freedom. We flew business or first and were able to use the nice lounges and he still complained about everything. Maybe the secret to loving travel is having kind of a borderline crappy daily existence.

Sounds like OP married someone from another country and the visit to their FOO isn't going well.

OP, I want details. Where are you? Why are you being forced to interact with strangers?

I love it but I can now pay for better seats, lounges, rooms, etc. Makes a big difference.

I hate crowds, flying is often VERY unpleasant, and I hate spending tons of money on mediocre food/experiences.

Hmmm, I’ve had some of the best experiences and food of my life on my travels. Where are you going?

My main issue is missing my pets. I hate being away from them.

My spouse just got yelled at by her siblings spouse. Rambles about 30 years of issues in a restaurant where 10 members of family gathered.

I am outsider and trying to support her.

Something’s you can’t take back once yelled and spit in someone’s face

Probably more appropriate in Family.

Why would people hate you? You sound like a real treat.

And why does traveling involve people faring you? I’m PP and we don’t travel in a group; it’s just our family of four.
