my 14 year old is on it currently for the last 2 months for a skin infection. Now I'm terrified and considering having her stop after reading all this!

I took it for years to treat rosacea and had no ill effects.

Doxycycline can treat migraine?

Yes, there was one small study. I take it on and off till the side effects get to me. It’s not a cure by any means but takes a drop of the edge off. I’ve tried most everything. It’s not a typical use.

Interesting. I’ve tried most everything too which is why I asked. Are you at the Gtown headache Center by chance?

No, Medstar. It’s worth trying but it does a number on my stomach. It slightly takes the edge off things.

Thanks, appreciate it.

That's weird and I don't believe you. Blame the medication for being cray cray.

Side effects on the label are everything seen in clinical trial it in no way means the drug causes the side effect. Correlation doesn't equal causation.

My son took it for 3 months. It cleared his acne and he had zero issues. He was 17 at the time.

Doxycycline made me extremely energized, almost euphoric. Was highly productive but couldn’t sleep!

I took it for ten days for cellulitis in my leg, it worked for that (after Keflex did not) and did not make me experience what you are talking about but it sure gave me serious diarrhea that was hard to resolve even after I stopped taking it.

I don’t think physicians share the very rare side effects that would not be on the “common” list on pharmacy paperwork. That would be counterproductive and would frighten people away from taking necessary medication. But people should always do their own research when it comes to any new medication.

Took it for acne and it did absolutely nothing.
Stopped taking it as a result

Resurrecting this thread to ask if anyone else had massive headaches on doxycycline? My derm didn't warn me either and I stopped it and contacted her after 8 doses that cause nausea and massive headaches. I am ready to call a neurologist but it the New Year and so many clinics are shut this week/were shut last week. So it may be ER if it gets worse.

If you are not prone to migraines, I would not wait to see a doctor, even if that means going to the ER.
