The horrifying thing is that we literally had a candidate that ran on a platform of jailing his innocent opponent, who after getting elected headed a government administration that continuously performed unconstitutional acts, subverted democracy, and after leaving office continues to announce to the world that he will be a "dictator" if he is elected again, and all these so-called "patriots" who claim they need their heavy weaponry to "take on tyrannical government" not only didn't do a thing, they lined up behind the tyrant in support.

Would there still be mass shootings if they were all done by regular rifles and nothing changed legally? Sure. But many lives would also be spared. The theoretical buybacks refer to assault weapons. I do agree that those desiring to operate automatic weapons need to be heavily evaluated and trained the way someone who wants to drive an ambulance would be. That’s a separate issue from simply owning a gun.
