The ren fest is lots of fun and great people watching. You can rent a costume there - the rentals are right when you walk in. That would be your best bet.

Or, just wear your normal clothes this year, but people watch and see if there is a type of costume you’d be interested in buying. You will see there are so many different types and may regret having bought something in advance.

I’ve gone almost every year but never dressed up. So, it’s not required and you’ll have fun either way.

I’m going, OP and I’m 45 and my girlfriends (all attractive moms who are either attorneys doctors or consultants) are coming and we are going in corsets and long skirts and drinking mead and having a ball! Get a floral headpiece from Amazon to complete any look!

FWIW Ren Fest outfits are oretty much anything from full Tudor costume to Cosplay for pretty much any Fandom you can think of, plus lots of people in t shirts and jeans. So whatever you like and feel comfortable with will totally be fine.

My kid always has a great time and the Ren Fair.
