People on DCUM will rip Longwood to shreds because it is not UVA but for a certain type of student, it is a really good match. Why? Very small class sizes. Professors willing to work with students and help them to be successful. Disability office has gone above and beyond to help ds navigate being in college. For the first time in a really long time, ds is feeling good about himself in academics.
I’m the above poster with the freshman at the NE small college. I had really wanted Longwood to be a fit for her, but it just didn’t have the programs she specifically wanted.

2 young ladies who were in Girl Scouts with her are now at Longwood-one of them was a fellow ADHD child. Her mom and I had chatted a couple times last year and I know that she was quite happy with the Longwood supports.
Radford was my daughter’s runner up school. From what I could gather (no personal experience), their supports are also pretty good. My kiddo just didn’t pick it in the end because … well, SW VA vs being on a commuter line to Boston. They just can’t change their location.
