I dont think you need to feel sorry for us. Some of us just feel more comfortable being covered up!

If you didn't want to tandem nurse, the time to wean would have been a few months before the birth. I would be worried about sibling rivalry however 16 months might be young for that. Honestly do whatever makes you happy as long as the newborn is gaining weight

Tandem nursing is a challenge for me. So hard to position the newborn and toddler. Newborn has a hard time keeping the nipple in her mouth and just fusses like anything if she loses the nipple.

Toddler on the other hand doesn’t want to leave the breast as long as baby sister is still nursing.

So far, I’ve not really had any issues with milk supply, even leading up to giving birth to the new baby. For some odd reason, I’ve always tended to overproduce milk can have to pump to avoid encouragement.

The only somewhat new thing that’s come up with the toddler ever since I gave birth is that she starting into this twiddling phase when I am not nursing, she wants to be able to use my other nipple like a rubber band.

What do moms recommend for a good cooler bag to keep breast milk cool. Looking for a small cooler bag I can keep in the diaper bag.

I nursed both kids until 3 and they are 2.5 years apart so there was some overlap. It was completely fine, kids are both healthy despite one possibly getting the wrong kind of milk!

I don't think nursing a 16 month old is particularly shocking, but my question is - when you're nursing a newborn and a toddler at once isn't one of them getting the wrong kind of milk? Part of the interesting thing about breastfeeding is that the composition changes as your kid grows up and even in response to your kid's saliva (antibodies are created if baby is fighting something off, etc). The levels of protein in the milk go down precipitously after 3-4 months, and again at 7-8 months, etc.

Obviously if the toddler is getting "newborn" milk, it's not the end of the world. But you want to make sure your newborn is not getting toddler milk, which has roughly half the protein of NB milk.
