If you get rid of the filibuster. And you do not want to do that with the new incoming Congress.

+1 My grandma had diabetes and lived to 89 (including surviving a case of Covid in 2021).

They are 74 and 76 years old respectively, still a lot younger than RGB when she died (87).


And much older than many other people. As far a like expectancy goes, compare justices to the general population and not each other.

RBG finally got tagged by cancer.
I don’t think she is more at risk that Thomas (he doesn’t have statistics on his side)
But people have a right to care about what happens if we unexpectedly lose a justice, and to want to plan accordingly.

They are both embittered enough to try and hold on for four more years. If they didn’t start their tenures as paranoid ideologues with persecution complexes, they have certainly blossomed into the resentful, regressive Statler and Waldorf of the Supreme Court we know today.
