I have boys. We went to visit grandparents, went to the beach, went to a family friend’s bbq, went to eat as a family. Both boys had fantasy football drafts and both kids have sports practice on Monday (today).

Twins-DD 1 went by train to visit her grandmother/cousins. DD 2 - working

She had a XC meet on Friday, we went to a Nats game yesterday and brought a teen friend along who then stayed for dinner, and this morning she had XC practice and then came home, showered and helped with chores. Currently she is curled up and writing, which is her favorite thing to do when she gets a chance. She's exhausted and wants to just chill, but will probably bake focaccia later this afternoon.

Solidarity with the beginning of school colds! Happens most years. Ugh

My freshman DS and I had a day running some errands for his school stuff, then he spent one day fishing with a friend, another hanging out at home, and today he and some friends are hiking in a local park.

My DD is home this weekend because she has that "beginning of school cold" that is going around. Normally she is volunteering, going to the mall with a friend, or riding her bike

My DD was very social this summer but just wanted to chill at home this weekend. I was worried at first but realized it was the first week back at school, practices, etc and I would have been exhausted if I were her. I told her I was proud that she listened to her body and knew she wanted some quiet time.

At a sports tournament out of town. She plays an individual sport competitively outside of her school but made friends with other kids who play the same sport in our area. The kids hang out together when they are done with their games.
Does she have a hobby or a sport she’s interested in that’ll help her grow her friend circle?

Seeing this through kids social media. My DD hasn't said much and seems content in her room. Simply trying to gage what the middle ground is for teen girls who have just started HS.

My DD was going to meet up with a few friends at the high school football game, however, it was postponed like all the other schools. Friday night she slept over at a friend’s house. Other than that, she has been hanging out and working on her art hobby that she does not have much time for during the week.

My freshman is home this weekend. He’s an introvert. He also actually had a ton of work to do.

Adding - the teens constantly posting on social media definitely have something they are trying to prove. My freshman daughter almost never logs into instagram and only uses Snapchat stories to do the friend birthday montages. My junior posts on instagram once a year and mostly uses stories for birthday posts or on insta to promote a friends post. Which I do look through her friends pages occasionally (esp if I see a link in daughters story) and they seem to mostly post pretty vacation pics. Occasionally “photo dumps” tagging their friends which I guess could be FOMO inducing.

We are at the beach with family but otherwise she would probably be at the pool with her friends. She doesn’t love sleepovers so probably not that - we left yesterday so Friday night she was at a friends house.

If your daughter just started high school and is in a friend transition she might not have her group yet for these activities. When my junior daughter was a freshman she first hung out with new friends around mid sept

This. Haven’t you noticed this also with grown women? The ones who are constantly posting group pics on SM making sure everyone knows who their friends are are deeply insecure and not really having that much fun.
