This is OP, and plica band syndrome fits the description more than torn meniscus. I hope it is solved with a cortisone shot!

Possibly plica band syndrome. Often similar symptoms to a torn meniscus. A cortisone shot can bring a lot of relief. Surgery to clean out the inflamed plica bands can also be done, but usually that's only if it comes back after the cortisone shot or it's really interfering with your life.
