Is the SIPP cup? I think that's what it's called. It was circular with just the central button. Sad to say that mine did leak which is what had me try Zojirushi (another Zojirushi fan here!).

I have several colors of the Thermos insulated travel cup (no handle) that opens with one hand - you push the central button. It has never leaked, in all the many years I've been using it, even when upside down or rolling away on the floor. I can't find it on Amazon any more, otherwise I'd add a link.

Yes, I throw my Zojirushi in my bag all the time. I try to keep it upright, but even if it falls over it has never spilled a drop. I completely do not worry one bit about it spilling in my work bag.

As to the comment about the coffee being too hot to drink for too long, my solution to this is to keep the lid off for a few minutes before I cap it. If you add (cold) milk/creamer, that would of course help too.

There's a lot of Zojirushi love in this thread and for good reason!

I was just about to post this. I would not trust any mug to just throw IN my bag. Maybe a Swell or a Corksicle with a top that screws completely on (no straw, spout, etc.). But I wouldn't love drinking my coffee out of that.

I do use Yetis all the time for coffee and more.

I realize the OP was focused on the mug being spill-proof, but I just hate that all these suggestions are stainless steel. That completely ruins the flavor of the coffee.

So, if anyone out there reading this feels the same way, my recommendation is the Frank Green travel mug, which is both spill-proof and ceramic.

+1000 I've tried many and the Zojirushi models are the best. Coffee stays piping hot all day, and I can literally store the (closed) mug upside down in my work bag and it won't leak.

That might be the case but have you opened it up to clean it? All of those types of mugs with super complicated mechanisms get mold and bacteria stuck inside unless you take it completely apart after each use.

Yeti is a whole lot let complicated and easy to clean. Keeps my coffee hot for 2 hours and that's really all I need.

The zojirushi model I have has a mouth peice easy to take apart and assemble. I dunno what you’re talking about. It has typical brilliant Japanese design. It’s not complicated at all.

It sounds like she’s throwing it in a bag. I wouldn’t do that with a yeti rambler.
