Something like this is a little better if you're into the floral thing, though I personally would just opt for something solid in a dark color, maybe in satin if it's during the evening.

Went to this wedding last night and reporting back for anyone searching for similar dress code guidance in future

Apparently no one knows what “mountain cocktail” (this was Asheville area mountains, not western mountains) means. There were business style cocktail dresses, puffy sleeve long prairy dresses, tea length party dresses with big bows, slinky long sleeve floor length dresses, knit dresses with very high slits, little black sheath dresses and this was just among the brides friends (who I’m assuming know her style / could have gotten guidance if they wanted). The only thing there wasn’t was very short dresses but it was chilly and bride couple was early 30s so wouldn’t expect that no matter the dress code.

And all the men were in a suit and tie - so easy for them to not spend any time thinking about this. I don’t know if I’d prefer that but it is easy to make sure you won’t go astray

Try a solid color with sleeves or a cover up of some sort.

I like the dress, but it’s not cocktail attire. It’s something you’d wear with cowboy boots to a reception in the country.

I went to a cocktail-attire event out west and the predominant look (which I never see around here) was long floaty floral dresses with a light colored pullover sweater on top. Sort of an oversized, lightweight sweater on top of a dress. This was a fancy crowd, FWIW.

Men were in ties and blazers or suits.

Anyway, I like the dress and you should wear it!

Maybe beach dinner it’s awful and not appropriate
