What about a fruit tray with a dip?

Can you be more specific? The tagines I know are all main dishes.

Prosciutto wrapped asparagus. Google a recipe for how long you cook the asparagus, but it's served room temperature so should work.

Oh and Costco used to sell those mini-quiches. They are perfect for an appetizer dinner.

For a dinner I’d suggest charcuterie. I’d have a mix of cheese, meats, fruits, chips and spreads. This is more dinner appropriate, with more filling choices than just chips and salsa.

Of the frozen reheat apps, spanakopita is usually my favorite.

Yeah if they're inviting 40 people or whatever not every single person needs to provide something "hot and like a meal" or "heavy app". Some people can still provide the dips.

I loved the idea above about dolmas. And go to the olive bar and buy all the expensive stuff that people never splurge on. Stuffed olives, stuffed cherry peppers. Some fancy nuts and crackers and you're all set with something simple but different.

There are tons of frozen apps at Trader Joes or any grocery that you can reheat at home and bring safely to the party.

If you're not a cook, just buy whatever sounds good -- or a selection -- heat them up fully at home and present them on a nice tray, maybe garnished with little bunches of grapes or something. They'll be fine at room temp for hours.

Pick up some spanakopita from a Greek Restaurant and cut into bit size pieces.

Charcuterie board! Hit up A. Litteri for meats, cheeses, and accoutrements if you want to do an Italian board and are okay spending a bit, or you can just grab a bunch of different things at Trader Joe’s.
