They do not tell you this, but it turns out there is a 90% success rate and 10% failure rate.

Also, the filling could be too high. Or do you now have a crown? That could be too high as well.

Usually the dentist would do the root canal and then you would return for the crown. I bet the crown is too high.

Go to endo now. They have better skills. Could have missed a canal. They can truly save your tooth.

My endo said that if my tooth was still hurting after a few days it could be that the tooth was cracked which would require extraction. Hope this is not the case but I would definitely go back and/or get a second opinion. Good luck.

Can you tell us why you had to get it retreated? Thank you!

First treatment failed. Who knows why. Supposedly it is rare, but it happens. I had massive sinus cavity infection with no symptoms before the re-treatment.

Anonymous wrote:OP here - Yes, it was very painful before. This was a two-parter. I had antibiotics after the first session and it helped the pain which was almost cleared up and then I had part 2 today, and I can't even bite down on the tooth anymore. I think I'm going to give it two days then go see an endodontist. Perhaps I should not have trusted this dentist. I wish I had asked for a referral to an endodontist right away.

Call the dentist and ask to be seen. The inflammation may be pushing the tooth up and affecting your bite, which can aggravate everything.
