I wish this was the extent of worries I had.

My child was in that class last year. Like you, at first we were concerned about how isolated the classroom seemed. But Ms. Chetrit is an outstanding teacher. She made a community among the students (and the parents!). The students love her and my child made huge academic progress. You and your child will love her.

As someone else said, the classroom has its advantages, particularly for drop off. In addition to the garden outside, the students claimed that entire area outside the classroom, and often ate lunch outside and took nature walks near the nearby trees.

We can usually tell what parents are posting. -teacher

Why does that matter?

Nothing on here matters. lol I mentioned it because the PP thought the OP’s use of “favourite” would out them to others. I was just pointing out that when parents have commented about my school and even my classroom, it was always quite obvious who it was.

The whole school area is so small that there is no playground area that is far from the classroom. But also, the further the better, the kids need to move.

You are lucky to have been assigned one of the best teachers at Janney. Zero concerns about that classroom.

That room is not particularly dark, and it doesn't matter how far it is from the playground. It's also directly next to the science classroom and near the library. Wouldn't worry about this at all. (Also, Ms. Chetrit is a great teacher...)

OP said the room was dark, how is that possible with floor to ceiling windows?

The classroom is on 42nd St near the garden area.

Favourite or favorite? English?

Thank you, PPs. I’m so happy to hear the teacher is great!!! And my kid will love the veggie garden!

If your primary concern is really the physical classroom, kids rarely care about those things like adults do.

We have had a child in this class. You have an amazing, amazing, amazing teacher, and that location is an advantage in a number of ways. They have their own vegetable garden, and they’re able to play in a larger area more easily—and do so regularly (though yes, no play equipment right outside). In my opinion you have nothing at all to worry about—on the contrary!
