MS kids are too stinky for athletic recess. (But oops, PE)

They have lunch and mascot time for breaks.

I feel like I've heard from so many ppl that are against. They always chime with a reason that kids shouldn't have it. I actually know someone who laughed at their child and called them a baby be ause they started 6th grade and were upset by no recess. I couldn't believe them.

For today's kids, sadly, yes which is something that I cannot relate to at all, I was in MS 30 yrs ago though. Even still, I can't possibly be the only one who when in MS still liked to play and be a kid?

In MCPS my kid had SOAR and Homeroom which acted as an additional recess or break for the day. Kids could choose where to go and hang out or get additional help with classes. This was in addition to PE every day. It's a good idea.

Our public MS principal is very pro-recess. He proudly announces the kids go out rain or shine. Which the kids, especially girls, sometimes hate because of their hair and clothes.

I went to a private k-8 and had outdoor recess (and a long lunch with time to play) up through 8th. I mostly played basketball but MS kids were doing flips on the bars, playing other ball games, or talking with friends. Only downside is I likely stank after getting sweaty, despite deodorant.

my child went from private to public school this year (MS)

at private they had recess every day (up to 8th). it was before or after lunch.

public school - she has PE every day and no recess. i guess that's how they get them moving, beyond all the walking they do each day, going from class to class.

This is exactly what would happen. Add doing stupid/dangerous things and taking videos of said stupid/dangerous things. Kids are already failing miserably at school by MS, the last thing they need is less time in class.
There are absolutely no cell phones between the start and end. No cells at lunch. No cells at recess.


They are a huge problem at the middle schoolers im familiar with

I bet if they used BMI comparison like they do test scores as benchmarks for performance you would see a lot more PE and recess.

Not the same as recess, but in mcps they have PE every day in middle school.
