There was a home invasion going on across the street. Laci was a victim of wrong place wrong time and so was Scott. Scott telling his mistress he’ll soon leave his wife and she will be gone soon doesn’t mean he killed her. It means he’s an Ahole and a cheater which lots of guys are

The nearby break-in is probably the one argument in favor of the defense that gives me a bit of a pause.
I also don't put too much stock in Scott telling Amber on December 9th that his wife was dead despite the fact that this point was hammered in the documentary. Cheating spouses make up all kinds of lies, that by itself does not mean he intended to kill her. There's not a whole lot of difference between saying that and lying about being single.

On the other hand, when you look at every piece of evidence in totality, it's just impossible for me to believe anyone other than Scott killed her.

She was kidnapped by serial killers with a penchant for abducting pregnant women in the area

What is your evidence for this hypothesis?

Evelyn Fernandez and a host of other missing women in Modesto

The LA Innocence Project is reputable (see https://mediabiasfactcheck.com/los-angeles-innocence-project-bias/ ) but is distinct & separate from the better-known National Innocence Project.

This was my question - and actually why I didn’t watch the documentary. It wasn’t covered?

NP
This actually is the reason that I did watch it. This was one of the first True Crime cases I followed. I remember at the time, it was pretty clear that he did it, and the hope was that “circumstantial evidence” was enough for the jurors to convict.

But when the innocence project took it on, I began to doubt what I thought I remembered. The documentary was good reminder of all the evidence they had against him. It was great that it was from the families point of view and they focused on Laci. I was also pleasantly surprised that Amber Frey participated. I pretty critical of shows like this, but thought it was great documentary and watched all 3 episodes in one day.

so no insight as to why the innocence project looked into this case recently?

I really enjoyed this documentary even though I didn’t really expect to.
I had thought I already knew everything there was to know about this case.
I am struck by the striking similarities in Scott’s case along with another Netflix American Murder case that of Chris and Shannon Watts.
Both were around similar ages, both couples were good looking and suburban families with loving families and both husbands were carrying on affairs secretly while their wives were expecting babies too.
At least in the Watt’s case, the husband to his credit admitted to the murder thus saving taxpayers from paying for a very lengthy trial and Shannon’s family from reliving their horrible nightmare in a public venue.

I just watched the first two episodes today.

Will conclude the docuseries later on tonight when my Aunt comes over so we can watch it together.

I remember how everyone jumped to the assumption of him being guilty once it came to light that he was in an extramarital affair.
I admit - I jumped on that bandwagon too.

Now I am trying to watch the docuseries w/a more open + mature mindset.

I attended a Women’s Bible Study (in-home fellowship) at Scott Peterson’s older brother’s home in 1999-2000 where his SIL Janey was the leader in San Diego.
The home was lovely, they were living in it rent-free from his Dad.
Janey was very down-to-earth and her two sons (Elementary aged at the time) were extremely well-behaved for their age.

I haven’t spoken to their family since ‘00 when I stopped attending the Bible studies (due to college scheduling) but I heard through my church group that later on Janey became an attorney in order to help Scott.

They have long since moved from the house & thankfully no lookiloos ever drive by it.
It helps that the house is on the edge of a suburban culdesac.
My parents still live across the st.

In the docuseries I see that Janey is featured and that she is still standing by Scott.
I always liked her and found her not only a great Christian role-model for our church but also very levelheaded as well so am trying to be fair.

However certain things this doc shows have not painted Scott in a positive light.

When a woman is murdered, it’s exceptionally unusual for it not to be her partner.

His affect seems flat and deadened and always has. His mother's childhood history was traumatic. Her father was murdered when she under three and she was basically sent away when her own mother could not cope (she was raised by nuns in an orphanage). She was basically abandoned by her birth family. Interestingly, she later also gave up two unwanted pregnancies (girls I think, one wrote a book about her belief in peterson's guilt). It's a bizarre history and makes one wonder about his mother's capacity for emotional presence and depth. He seems like a caricature of the good son...superficially looked and acted the part but was not really known deeply by anyone. Like he was trying to pass for having normal feelings of warmth and empathy when he probably didn't. And that stupid downward expression of his mouth he often had made me wonder if he was trying to actually hide a duping smirk, common to psychopaths and not easy to hide.
