Huh? Citadel (the hedge fund) is in Miami. Are you talking about Citadel Securities?

Citadel Sec headquartered in Miami and New York has been more of a senior place. I think the PP was lying about their child..

Doesn’t Citadel Sec have a big NYC office…but it’s just handling the day-to-day of processing trades for others…again, it’s owned by Ken Griffin but I think operates quite apart from the hedge funds.

A ton of financial firms, especially the big names that students want to be at, or now moving to Miami. Eventually, people get over themselves and realize the opportunity and take it. Passing up Citadel, because you are too pretentious for Miami is just silly.

It's not about being too pretentious - it's about valuing individual rights: a woman's right to choose what to do with her own body; about allowing people to love each other no matter what gender; about allowing students to read books valued by educators - not politicians.

I would be 100% fine with any of my kids turning down any job offer anywhere in FL, including Miami

DD turned down a job in TX for these reasons. Very happy in Seattle.

NYC or bust for my kid. Won’t apply anywhere else.

I was like why have you been applying up there. Extremely prestigious places that could move the needle for law school. Has yet to get anything in DC and is interviewing with boutique law and lobbying firms in DC instead. Kinda upset honestly.

He wasted all those peoples time in NY. Word spreads. He better hope he didn’t get blacklisted as flaky.

No way would my child be stupid enough to relocate to one .

Your daughter will spend 4 years in a dying Maine town then return to DC or MD to her new grad job at an identitarian non-profit. As was always the plan. She has no skills or specialized knowledge that would naturally lead her to Texas or North Carolina, anyway

Manhattan is freaking awesome. It's good for kids to go through the evolution of living there-loving it and staying or loving it and moving to jersey or hating it and discovering new places. It's great to not have to own a car, and join all the youthful communities in New York. LA is also awesome to screw around in while you have nothing tethering you to the world.

Yes, social life is what young kids care about most.

The office on Park Ave is also pretty dang small. They have been directing new grads to Miami ever since they left Chicago.

DS was offered a good job in Kansas but said nope.

Depends on how bad the location is and what else the job is offering.

My son moved for his first out of college job to Chicago, his friends - to Denver and Raleigh. All ideally wanted to end up in NYC but couldn’t find anything comparable in NYC. The offers were great and those cities aren’t exactly the middle of nowhere boondocks.
