I applaud you, OP, but I would not be able to do the same: I'd get some kind of injury for sure! My exercise needs to be mild to moderate, with careful stretching.

This is me, too.

When I did CrossFit, I was always famished after. It was impossible to stay in a diet.

I am certain I will continue to lose and I have about 30 lbs more to go. I will admit it started with a week where I felt queasy and lost my appetite but then that went away I have been able to continue losing by being highly motivated and having more control over myself than I used to.

That's 5# a week. That's a lot. Especially without physical activity. Make sure you get checked out by a doctor and ensure there's no other underlying cause of such quick weight loss.

Eating less, but also eating DIFFERENTLY are likely the impetus for your initial weight loss. But if you have a lot of weight to lose like the total 50# you indicate, don't be surprised if you plateau in your weight loss without making additional changes.

Did you even read the original post? I’ll quote it for you and its definitive tone of “and that is achieved.” That’s like me saying a 5:30 mile is achieved by simply running. I’ll bet a huge sum of money OP isn’t capable of that.

“ Calorie deficit is key and that is achieved by swimming a little over an hour a day non-stop. Burns at least 1000 calories.”

OP was describing their experience. OP "achieved" the "calorie deficit" by swimming for an hour. People who swim are capable for swimming for an hour. "Non-stop" may is not defined and left for reader's interpretation (I interpret as being active in a pool for an hour whereas I imagine others could take it to mean swimming the breaststroke for an hour without pause), so can be debated. Regardless, your comparison is illogical.

I can barely swim at all and I cannot reasonably live on 1200 calories. Good for you, OP.

I lost 40 pounds in 7 or 8 months by eating maybe 1500 to 1800 calories and briskly walking an an incline 5 or 6 miles daily. That was completely manageable, but would apparently cause weight gain for others who are 5'4? I can eat 2000 calories for maintenance.

Congrats to you OP.

However, please remember that weight loss journeys are not the same for everyone. So what worked for you won’t work for everyone else.

Swimming for an hour + 1200 daily calories = "easy"

OK.

OP + her post = idiot

I was part of a study group for 6 weeks. We were given 200 ml of daily NaCl + Vitamin C infusion intravenously while consuming a strict diet of 1200 Kcalories per day. There was also a 45 minute daily aqua aerobics. I only lost 8.5 lbs while the average of the group was 22 lbs. This certainly proves that genetics and metabolism is a big factor in losing weight beyond calories in and calories out.

It is definitely a data point, that's for sure. But it doesn't "prove" squat, and as a teacher, you should know that.
