ED or EA?

there's no EA anymore, unless first gen to college.

EA certainly still exists.

At Wake? No its limited to FG.
https://admissions.wfu.edu/apply/first-year/

Early Action for First-Generation College Students gives first-generation college students an admissions decision by January 15. Unlike Early Decision admissions, the Early Action decision is non-binding. Admitted first-generation students have until May 1 to decide if they will enroll at Wake Forest.

DS started common app in June in workshops offered by his school, mostly the data entry stuff. Finished essay and wordsmithing the rest this week with a college counselor. His main sport is fall so front loading this. We did a ton of visits during junior year so we feel good about his list of schools. Now deciding about an ED (in which case he needs to do the supplemental essay) or several EAs (in which case he'd need to do many more supplemental essays).

DS SHOULD be finishing it up for Pitt, but is grumpy and wants nothing to do with anything. SO frustrating!!!

Shooting to decide on ED/EA and send those in by Oct 20 and then queue up ED2/RD to be ready by Christmas, if needed.

It is my understanding that sending in apps early won’t hurt but won’t help either. A few days before the deadline is fine.

Do the school specific sections pop up automatically on the common app, including essay topics?

Is it a very long application?

I had my kid start this week so he knows what he needs to beef up.

How are applicants supposed to know this?

College counselor

Wake is binding though if you apply now.

Geez. My son's counselor knew absolutely nothing.

Kid #1 (now a college senior): a couple of hours before the EA deadline.

Kid #2 (current HS senior): already has the first application submitted.
