Don’t students ride free?

It is not a pretty picture.

The two budgets are separate. Shows what you know! So don't "OMG people" us when you know absolutely nothing about how these projects work and how they're funded.

And as a resident of MoCo's wealthier area, no, we're not going anywhere. So many people are ready to throw down 2-5M for a house in my neighborhood, there is no inventory, and there hasn't been for YEARS.

If you're the anti-Elrich, anti-liberal MoCo poster... sorry to tell you, we're doing pretty well here.

IRS tax data shows that rich people are leaving MOCO.

The zoning changes will accelerate this.

True.

What is the point of this thread? The Purple Line is nearly open. It's been decades in the making.

What on earth do you hope to accomplish with your little idiocy on here?

They should have just built the purple line from Bethesda to silver spring, use the existing right of way called it a day. Building the rest of it eastward added tons to the cost and time, was the major engineering feat, and the train will be slow as molasses as it winds its way through PG.

The is a complete waste of money and it will bankrupt MD. Virginia is not not stupid enough to subsidize this mistake. We will not contribute extra to cover the fiscal shortfall from Marylands irresponsible financial decisions. There is no political will to bail out MD here, so good luck everyone else.

That ship sailed years ago, OP. Your backyard will have a light rail in it. Admit defeat and move on. It's for the common good. I am happy that the Purple Line is coming into existence at long last!

The Purple Line will benefit millions living in this area - the ones using it, and the ones whose other commutes will be a little cleaner because of the people using it.

I don't know what OP's angle is, or why they're imagining that at this point in the development the project is going to be scrapped, practically at the finish line. RFK Jr has more chance of getting elected President than the Purple Line has of being scrapped. And making a little thread on DCUM that will be read by what, 500 separate individuals, tops, won't change a thing.

Go ahead, OP. Do your worst...

I came on here hoping to learn about the purple line and learned zero. The title of this thread has nothing to do with the article cited in the OP's post.

Purple line is merely a tool to line the pockets of developers and Chevy Chase Land Company. Simple transfer of 10 billion from the public to private.

More like maids and construction workers

Don’t be naive

Do you have a problem with maids and construction workers (who contribute to the Bethesda economy and can’t afford to live in Bethesda bc nimbys keep it unaffordable through crazy zoning laws)? Disgusting.

Hmm, most of the “youths” I see taking Metro avail themselves of the student discount - ie, jumping over the turnstiles.
