OP, what was achieved? Will your aunt change? Unlikely. She is an older woman with a disagreeable personality who has probably been this way her whole life. The reason the rest of your family lets her ramble is that they understand this. It would have been a lot more "classy" to just bite your tongue and try to avoid the aunt. But now you are the drunk who told off an old lady.

OP didn’t mention Aunt was drinking. Just OP. I wonder if OP often gets aggressive and confrontational while drinking. And she didn’t tell her to shut up she said some words that didn’t make much sense. People are probably wondering if she’s ok.
