My DH got a Rav4 Prime on June 7. It came with a full tank of gas. It is now Sept 22. He still has half a tank and has not filled it up yet. I mean, he still has half of the original gas from June 7th in his tank!

It's a great way to reduce your emissions, still have access to a gas tank when needed , and not give a dime to the jackass Musk. Imagine only using 3-4 tanks of gas per year!

I haven’t noticed a difference in my electric bill with the Prime. Admittedly, I’m not watching that bill amount religiously each month. But no noticeable jump in the auto pay.

I recently debated this and actually ended up with the RAV4 Hybrid but not the plug-in version. It was about $10k cheaper and once I did the math, it was going to end up being the most cost effective option. I drive from Arlington to DC for my commute and I end up doing 60-70% of the drive using electric power. Very happy with it.

For those plugging the RAV4 prime in at home- have you noticed a difference in your electric bill?

I recently got a new crv hybrid touring as a rental and drove it for 400 miles. Smooth power train, lots of torque, smooth shifting and acceleration, relatively quiet at highway speeds. I loved it and would buy one.

Good call! The XSE just has some nice options like the panoramic moonroof and vented seats - nothing that’s a deal breaker. I could go either way with the seats. SEs are more available now after being hard to find for so long, so you can probably get a relatively good price!

If you’re driving in traffic <50 miles a day and can charge overnight, with the Prime you may never need to buy gas - but obviously can for road trips where you’ll get over 40 mpg.
I cross shopped it with the Volvo plug ins. Volvo put more into interior style/trim, Toyota puts more into the car mechanics itself - Prime is best in class for seamless performance between electric and gas. Go for the premium trim with Toyota.

Thank you, this is immensely helpful. I think we will pull the trigger and get the prime. Why do you say premium trim? Dealer only has the SE right now and I see mixed things online about the vegan leather/softtex seats.

I LOVE my prime. I get about 650 miles per tank. I charge every night and my Monday - Friday driving is all electric. I get probably 40-50 miles in a full charge bc it’s not highway and I don’t need AC all the time (I’m in New England). Weekends or road trips I dip into the hybrid because I’m driving kids everywhere for sports.

Love the sport option when hitting the highway.

I wish I got leather seats as the cloth really shows dirt, but it wasn’t an option due to demand when I purchased 2 years ago.

This will be the kids car in 3 years then I plan to get another prime.

Just get the comparable Hyundai, which is better in all respects than the Honda or Toyota.

I have a Rav4 Prime and I almost never have to use the gas mode because the 45 miles covers most daily driving.
