He's strumming OP's pain with his fingers; killing her softy with his song.

My DH sings and plays guitar too, I love that he is into it. However, it would be pretty odd for him to do it in our bedroom. I agree that a bedroom is a place for relaxation.

Why does he play his music in your bedroom instead of another room?

My hobby involves having 20 people over to sing as loudly as possible for 3 hours, so count yourself lucky.

Sing along. Either you will learn to enjoy it and it becomes something special between two of you or he will go to another room.

Surprise him with a music room for Christmas. A sound proof music room.

“So YOU don’t have to. You can’t sing to save your life!” 😂

This is really horrible and hurtful. I can’t imagine treating my H like that.

And listening to his terrible singing voice is enjoying?

Enjoy your divorce. Start talking to your spouse like that and he’ll know it’s over.

Don’t ask the question if you don’t want the answer.

Same, but it was my husband….he could sing beautifully but the instrument, yikes! I loved that he could totally be himself around me.

Op back and I appreciate these stories. And I'm sorry for your losses.

You can have boundaries without being a jerk. My H has a very loud hobby (involves a massive saw) and we set boundaries around when he can do it. I wouldn’t dream of criticizing his work just to get him to stop.

Maybe he will improve with practice.

my DH doesn't play the guitar. he just bursts out singing or humming ... in the family room, in the car....

nobody wants to hear that.

OP, next time he starts strumming AND singing, go into the bedroom with him and begin to sing along.

Tell him you just can't resist being a part of his chorus when he sings.

Maybe he will decide to stick to simple strumming!
