I just got back from Vegas and I can see why people hate it. But I don't gamble so maybe that's why it lacks appeal for me.

Freeport, Bahamas was terrible. I couldn't wait to leave. I have been to Nassau and I can tolerate it there but Freeport was scary.

a few places come to mind. I can't say I'll never go back or truly "absolutely hate", but I love to travel and these are the places I've been that I really don't feel compelled to return to:

1- Edmonton, Canada. There was a funny thread recently on DCUM where someone was choosing between Edmonton and somewhere else and universally everyone hated on Edmonton.
2- woods of central Maine. I don't like the woods (too dark, no views) and we were overrun with mosquitos and ticks. I like the outdoors but nothing about that landscape called to me.
3- Las Vegas. I had to go for work for 4 days and struggled to find anything I wanted to do in my free time. I don't like gambling, or shopping, and have no real interest in seeing shows. The pool was too crowded, the food was either terrible or wildly expensive, or both.

I didn't hate it, but I won't be back to Santorini. It was overpriced, overcrowded, and overrated. While picturesque, there was too much social media posing.

I have much more fun in other places in Greece which are less popular.

I’ve never hated anywhere but there are places I don’t need to go again. I wouldn’t write off a whole country or city because of bad accommodations or a less than ideal scenario. For example, I didn’t enjoy a trip to the Bahamas but I was on a Disney cruise and just wasn’t for me. It had less to do with the Bahamas and more to do with disliking the cruise and Disney experience. Everything felt pretty fake and manufactured, and the food on the ship was pretty poor, and it just wasn’t my thing!

I don't like big cities, so 24 hours in Tokyo would be enough for me, but there is a lot to see and do if you don't mind crowds. I was more interested in natural landscapes and liked Hokkaido, Nagano, Kanagawa, Matsushima, and Naruko onsens.

Same, Cancun. Generally like all inclusives but it was not good despite the great reviews. Also found the employees significantly less friendly and on the ball than other destinations.

As a veteran of 20+ visits to the yucatan since the mid 80s, the resort and location you choose can range from unbelievable to unbearable.

I have had some of the best report experiences there (Tres Rios, Mayakoba, Azul Beach - old one, Xcaret) as well as some of the worst (one I won't name that was chosen by friends where we left a paid week after 2 days and I paid for everyone to go to one of the above).

My husband has a friend who lives in Phoenix and we went and visited him for a few days and I hated it. The entire place just seemed like a giant suburb. No neighborhoods, no history. It was so dry and dusty. Scorpions? No thank you. I can't even imagine being there in the heat.

We didn't like Vienna in August. It was basically a big tourist trap with all the locals out of town. Actors in Mozart costumes, Sound of Music tour hawkers, and bad schnitzel at tourist traps. The local restaurants were closed for summer vacation.

All-inclusives. I've tried them twice and I just do not enjoy it. I went to one in Mexico alone, and was hoping that having people do things for me and not having to make decisions would be lovely. I got so bored I rented a car and drove to Tulum instead. The other was with my husband in the DR, and it was pretty, but just..fine.

The meals are...fine, but clearly catering to a boring middle america white person (PS not to be confused with the thread on all "fly over people," just a certain kind). The drinks are underwhelming. And then you just feel trapped, and like it doesn't make any sense to leave the resort, but then the resort isn't amazing either.

They also seem to be avoidant of any of the local culture, apart from that tiny section at the end of the lunch buffet, and it's a challenge to get out of the resort.
