I’m 60 and have been through menopause. I had a lot of “elder care” questions a few years ago when my mother was dying but not so much anymore.

I have issues right now about retiring, downsizing, grief, etc. that there is really no forum for.

Please bring back Over 50.

Jeff, I hope you’ve seen that the Over 50 forum fulfils a need. Another way to think of it is that many of those of us over 50 are the original DCUMers! We’re now trying to “unparent” plus find a new life, stay happy, and more. Over 50 is also more positive than “Aging” and I miss the old Over 50 forum. Thank you for your consideration. Doesn’t midlife end when the nest empties (post college). The topics mentioned seem to be what comes after. Maybe Menopause and Beyond

I am a 55 yr old female who finds the new set up preferable. I don't ever want to read a thread about the menopause of peri menopause so now I just avoid that forum. Also the Eldercare forum has been particularly helpful to me recently. Anything else that is an issue for me at my age, is covered by all the other existing forums.

NP. That this is covered in the new forum that appeared after the split of midlife and eldercare. Perimenopause and such.

I would love to see the new Perimenopause forum renamed as Midlife which I think would get more traction than the more narrow current title. Just a thought.

Please do not rename the peri and memo and beyond midlife. Peri and all have nothing to do with men etc.

An over 50 or midlife forumn would work. I agree with being 60 and not having elderly problems yet (most days). Thanks.

Another vote for a separate midlife forum for all the reasons listed above.

I would also like a midlife forum that discusses what to do in your next phase of life: after kids are gone and when you are close to wrapping up, or have wrapped up, work. Would love to hear what others have done to find a happy second act, what others are thinking of doing, etc.

I agree with posters above that there is so much more to midlife/over 50 life than menopause and eldercare. Both of those are worthy topics, but the medical aspects of a particular phase of a woman's health honestly don't interest me at all compared with all the other things about late middle age: living arrangements; aging alone and finding community; retirement or new directions late in a career or volunteering; dealing with loss; finding joy; approaching life with the perspective of more decades behind than ahead... It is helpful to have a forum where a middle-aged perspective is normative and we don't get yelled at by the young.
