I like Leslie Jones but this is why I l think that joke was thoughtless. It’s like making a joke about how women are bad at math or something — there’s no reason to discourage a group that is historically disadvantaged in a field by announcing publicly “we don’t do that.” How discouraging for a girl that might be dreaming of learning to swim competitively.

I remember from the last 2-3 Olympics there was a lot of criticism of the coverage. Readings have been going down significantly. I think they are just trying something different.

This interview embarrassed me as yet another early fail by NBC with this Olympics coverage. She had a chance to ask Katie meaningful questions and all she did was talk about her meeting with Katie's mom and, most embarrassingly, peeing in the pool. What a useless waste of everyone's time.

Leslie Jones was being herself.
She does not represent anyone except herself. Anyone who was embarrassed by her sense of humor has their own security issues that stem from a dark place in United States history, and I suppose that is okay too because it is to be expected in a place where people are taught to hate who they are and have a need to try to impress others who probably don't care about them anyway.

Yes. That is why NBC airing Leslie's joke was a disgrace. Who knows it is possible an NBC writer wrote the joke not Leslie and that would be worse.
