As with any car purchase, you need to compare the Tesla model you're considering to alternatives to see which strike you as better for your needs. Tesla's charging infrastructure is incomparable and will likely stay that way for a long time, their vehicles are space-efficient, and the purchasing process is transparent and simple. They'll come to your house for many service needs. On the other hand, some other cars offer nicer interiors and better rides at similar price points, but may not accelerate as quickly, have as much interior space, or offer the same range. Some are also not as well established, so carry some risk of not remaining in business for the long-term, e.g., Fisker.

Tesla vehicles are very popular; they have the largest U.S. market share of any EV manufacturer by a wide margin - people don't buy unsatisfactory cars, so that says something. https://www.marketwatch.com/guides/insurance-services/electric-vehicle-statistics-2024/

We have a Tesla and it is so easy to drive that it makes driving fun. And I love the convenience factor of charging at home. I am not a fan of Elon Musk but Teslas were so ahead of the electric car game when I was in the market for an electric car.

I rented an Kia electric vehicle recently and loved driving it too. If I were in the market now, I would probably strongly consider buying a Kia.

There are going to people who judge you for the car you drive. There are going to be people who judge you for the vacations you take, the house you live in, the clothes you wear, the food you eat, the solar panels on your roof, the whatever. Please yourself.

I suppose my friend thinks I'm a moron for supporting Musk, but guess what? She hasn't told me to drop dead or anything. My neighbor also thinks we are too "green". But guess what? He hasn't keyed the car yet.

The car has a sentry mode and videos the whole area around it all.the.time. So no worries.

^ Don't worry about what everyone thinks of you. If you like the car, buy it. And it does not cost more for insurance than any other car in that price category. In fact, it has very high safety ratings. Unless you have a bad driving record, the rates are pretty much the same.
