I wonder how a school as large as UCLA can have such good food? Why wouldn't everyone use their provider?

It's both. The dining hall has a very cozy vibe. When DC went, he had very good indian food, nashville chicken sandwiches, and gumbo. He said it was very normal food that you would eat, but elevated. They even have their own butcher shop!

I’m not the PP, but my DD says O Hill is really bad.

I can believe Observatory Hill dining hall is bad, partly because UVa “saved money” by expanding it to its current gargantuan size. Military mess halls are smaller than the modern O Hill. UVa should have added another dining hall instead of doubling the size of O Hill. Way back, before it was doubled in size, their food was ok but not great.

The Newcomb Hall student dining room / student cafeteria (not the public one) is visibly better quality, despite having basically the same items on offer. Runk often is viewed as having the best student food…

Define what best is? My kid would say their school is the best because chik fila is right across the street and can eat it three meals a day.

UVA was the worst of the bunch that we toured.
