I thought when they said not to flush tampons they meant not to flush the applicator. I had no idea people took that nasty bloody tampon and rolled it in toilet paper and put it in a trash can.

I think I only found out a year or two ago (from DCUM) that tampons shouldn’t be flushed. Even then, I didn’t believe it, at first, until I had done further research. I distinctly remember that tampon instructions used to say to flush them. I’m 53, so I’ve been flushing them for years.

Same. And then I kept trying to put it in a trash can but it disgusted me so much and was a problem to not make a mess while doing so. And some people had open trash and. I now just use a cup and it’s been life changing. I’m shocked people still use tampons.

Do not trust people to do the right thing! My adult 40 something cousin recently admitted that she flushes her tampons. This is a college-educated, well-read, worldly woman. I couldn’t believe it!

I had a friend who carries wipes on her purse. I had to tell her not to flush that stuff down my septic. She still doesn't believe flushable wipes are not flushable.

+1 We were shocked overnight guests tried flushing (clearly a lot) of wipes down our new construction/pipes home. Then clogged the toilet and never told us! People are bizarre.
