As a parent of a DS who isn't going pro nor will be getting any scholarships, I just hadn't any idea of the amount of dedication in certain demographics to playing.

Naively I assumed a 10month a year schedule was a lot!

Just returned from a trip to SoCal, the weather is so much better there... compared to the heat and humidity here. It almost always perfect to play outdoors year round there.

West coast teams still practice between when GA/ECNL seasons end and begin. On weekends in the summer instead of league games they do tournaments. Some clubs choose to play in more and some less. However net effect is the same, soccer is played and practiced year round from a young age.

Our mid tier, mediocre, ENCL RL team wrapped up early May and we've been free for literally months. Really learn to appreciate the free weekends after a long season. Boggles the mind that we could still be grinding on
