I'm still amazed that there are people who decide not to pay and then expect others to move for their convenience. Nope. I'm staying in my great, paid for seat.

I am amazed that people forget their manners and are not willing to be considerate or accommodating. The aggressive me first culture is atrocious

I don’t see how asking someone to switch and making it awkward is mannerly.

Of course, you don't; you have never given a thought to the needs of others and only see your entitlement. So what if you inconvenience those who planned ahead? You come first, all narcs think the world should do whatever they want.

Sorry, was answering the entitled narc that posted before you.

I paid extra for that seat and planned ahead. You are trying to get the seat that was paid for for free. You are the rude one, not us who pay. You are being inconsiderate and clearly a horrible narcissist, so you are coming here criticizing "me first culture" when you are so horrible that you don't recognize that your whole post is YOU coming first. The irony of entitled douchebags like you.

I am paying for it. I wish it was free like in the old times, but it is not. I am not risking sitting in the middle seat of the middle row.
Those who have the money for business and first-class know they are getting a nice seat. I, on the other hand, have only the luxury of choosing an economy seat and it is worth it to me to know where I am sitting.

Especially when they request basically involves you taking a financial hit for their convenience and you paying for their seat. That is the height of entitlement.

And, anniying that if your flight is changed or cancelled, the seat does not convey and you have to pay again!

But I just paid close to $600 for seats for the three of us to fly to Europe on all legs of our trip. It's the price of travel these days and it sucks.

As the PP said, the base price of the ticket just gets you on the plane. Then you have seats, bags and everything else....it's crazy.

It is pretty crazy to have to pay for seats.
Four of us traveling on a European airline and it was $50 per seat per flight. That was going to be $400 on top of the already expensive tickets.
We decided to not pay for the seats and wished for the best with our unassigned seats. We did end up sitting together. And no, I wasn't going to ask for other passengers to move.

Most airlines won’t charge for you to be seated with your child under 11. I hope you’re trolling us, because there are kids who’ve been sexually assaulted on flights and I’d never leave my kids alone on a plane.

Yes.

But you have to think of it like this: the base price of the ticket is just to get you on the plane.

Then if you want anything beyond that (specific seat, luggage checked, more legroom, etc) you will need to pay.

Yep, we’ve paid extra in order to sit together with DC. It’s what rational people do instead of asking other passengers to trade seats with them.

This is where passengers get crushed in an accident.
