Seriously, best case scenario, this was a lot of incompetence and misunderstanding, in which case the only appropriate response is profuse apologies and full refunds. If it's overblown it's because people who effed up didn't take responsibility.

It doesn’t matter how it came to be known, disgruntled employee, or otherwise. They were not providing adequate training to new and returning lifeguards. Also, they were doing it while representing themselves as employees of top dc area privates. Despicable.

Regardless of whether or not there was a test-- how can you do a lifeguarding certification with only 4 hours of pool time? That's insane.

Did you read the article? The student was interviewed by someone from the Red Cross. That's how they know what wasn't taught.
