Even their conservatives more closely align with our Democrats than our Republicans. Ask any European. They'll tell you the US is insanely conservative. There's a reason we have no real paid time off, no real parental leave, no real worker protections, no real social safety net, and a healthcare system in collapse—because Americans are the most propoganized people in the world, convinced that to fix any of these problems would be "extreme" and scary scary "socialism."
Well...the US is not perfect...but there's a reason people immigrate (legally or illegally) to the US. My parents immigrated legally...why did they not stay or even return to a country with free health care? free college tuition? months of PTO?
Because only in the US could they, as uneducated but hard-working folks, work hard for their money and make something of themselves, sending their kids to college as 1st generation to go to college.
Sorry, but I have family in EU and it's far from perfect. You can work your whole life in some countries and still not afford to buy a house.
Those opportunities no longer exist, if they ever really did. Immigrants come here and get thrown into the gig economy with everyone else. Many young Americans will also work their entire lives and never be able to afford a home and retirement is a mere fantasy. People can't even afford to have children, let alone pay for their education. If you can't see that the standard of living has drastically declined since your parents came to this country, idk what to tell you. Just because people still believe in the "dream" doesn't mean it's anything more than that—a dream.
If that's the case then why do we have hoards of illigegal immigrants wanting to come into the US? And I'm sorry...I worked hard and sacrificed and was able to buy a house, have 2 kids and put them through college with minimal federal loans. It can be done.

And let me guess, you think that the Democrat party in its current state is just fine and Republicans (led by that terrible person Donald Trump) should just go away. Then we can have utopia with one party rule, a media that serves as the mouthpiece for that party, and dissenters can go to prison where they belong.
Sounds great, let's go!
OP here. You'd be wrong. I wholeheartedly support a two-party system....until extremism takes over from both sides and the only options are the extreme far right or the extreme far left which is IMHO where we are today.
There's no extreme left in the US. Only extreme right. The rest of the developed world laughs at how ridiculously conservative our country is, and how poorly we care for our citizens.
Agree to disagree.
What about the Democratic platform is remotely "extreme" or even "left" by the rest if the world's standards? Dem policy stances are like the starting point for everyone else. There's a whole political spectrum to the left of them that doesn't even exist here. Democratic politicians can't even say they believe housing is a basic human right because they're just as slavish to capitalism as Republicans. There is no real "left" in this country, and I'm so beyond tired of people acting like Democrats are so extreme when truthfully, they govern almost exactly the same way as Republicans.
